Welcome to the West Haven Seahawk Website and the 2012 Season!!

The Ray Tellier Midget Football League experienced a very successful 2011 season. Our Participants in both the football and cheerleadering programs increased by more than 10%. All of our football teams made the Pop Warner Playoffs. Our Midget football team captured the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner Championship before losing in the State championship. Our Junior Peewee team finished 8-2 and was the SCPW runner-up. The flag football teams had more than 50 players! Our Peewee cheerleading team was crowned State champions and competed well at the regional competitions. We had 10 participants that qualified for Pop Warner Scholar Athletes, earning a GPA of 96 and above. I would like to congratulate all our athletes and thank our hard-working board members, coaches, parents, and community for making the 2011 season so enjoyable and successful. I think 2012 will see the league grow bigger and I am looking forward to working with everyone in the organization and community to ensure another enjoyable experience for our young student athletes.

The Ray Tellier Midget Football League of West Haven, Inc. was founded in 1966 and enters its 46th consecutive season of operation in 2012. Our program has been very fortunate to have the support of the sports-minded and generous community of West Haven. The support we receive from local businesses and organizations enables our program to offer one of the lowest registrations fees in the area. We have also been blessed with great volunteers and coaches, making the West Haven Seahawks organization one of the most respected programs in the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner Conference (SCPW).

We were proud to be the first organization in the SCPW to offer flag football (5 & 6 year olds) and in 2009, West Haven was the first town to offer tiny-mite cheerleading (5 & 6 year olds). The Seahawk organization now offers fundamental football and cheerleading to boys and girls ages 5 through 15.

Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc, our national affiliate, requires that participants in Pop Warner have a 70 average in school. They also have processes in place to help those students struggling to become better students and to participate in our program. The academic success of our participants is our top priority!

The mission of the Ray Tellier Midget Football League is to teach the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, while stressing the importance of academic excellence and developing the life-long values of sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, respect, commitment and character in a positive and safe environment.
